Sha Tin 9th May Horse Racing Tips!

HONG KONG RACING SATURDAY 9 MAY 2015

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

I hope you enjoyed the racing at Sha Tin last Sunday as we really did see some special races and none better than Able Friend winning the Champions Mile. He now rates on top as equal rated best runner in the world. Now that is very special for Hong Kong runners and they have proved it time after time with some fantastic runners coming from Australia and New Zealand. Today the feature race is the Queen Mother memorial Cup and it does look to be a very competitive race over the 2400m. A Group race which does have some very good stayers. I do also like No 8 in race 10 Travel first as a very solid chance today and for the value selection I am going for Race Nine No 1 Up And Coming. Good luck if having a go and enjoy the days racing at sha Tin which is always a great meet.

Track and Conditions: Turf B+2 Course with the exception of races 1 and 6 which will be on the All Weather Dirt Track.

Expected Weather:  Sunny intervals with a few showers and a top temperature of 30 degrees. Wind will be from the south gusting up to and around the 30 Km/h mark which will create a tail wind down the straight which will assist closers.

Race 7: 14-2-3 Race 8: 5-4 Race 9: 1-3-12-7 Race 10:

Race 1: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1650m-AWT—Class 5

Top Pick: No 2 Safari Magic

Value Selection: No 1 Cultural City

Exotic Inclusions: No 11 Lucky Bole and No 6 Sure Peace

Race Overview

Safari Magic Class four runner dropping back to class five for the first time this season. Had been a bit hot and cold at class four but has also put in some nice performances. Mainly a Happy Valley and AWT runner and does go well on this surface. Comes up with a decent draw in gate 6 and has Brett Prebble in the saddle for the first time. Should be each way odds and a good chance at this class today even with the extra weight. Cultural City The last time he won a race was over this distance on this course and surface at class four earlier this season. Drops back to this class for the first time this season and even though he has top weight he comes up with a nice draw in gate four and you would have to think he should be competitive here.

Race 2: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 2000m—Class 4

Top Pick : No 5 Rouge Et Blanc

Selection: No 11 Crouse Control

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Navel Orange and No Ambassadorship

Race Overview

Rouge Et Blanc Has shown a fair bit of improvement at his last two starts winning for Joao Moreira over the 1600m and put in a very nice on paced performance for Zac Purton last start over the 2000m which he goes over today. Drawn in gate seven and should cross ok to be positioned well in the running once again. A repeat of his last start performance sees him right in this. Cruise Control his last two starts have been over this distance and the 2nd last was at Sha Tin over this course when he finished 3rd but was only a short head from the winner. Both those who finished in front of him on that occasion are also engaged in this race and will be looking at a form line from that race today as they all look well suited once again. Cruise Control does retain leading hoop in Joao Moreira in the saddle which will most likely not do his odds much good but he does appear another strong chance here.

Race 3: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 6 Glacier Blue

Value Selection: No 2 Plenty Of Speed

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Penny Lane and No 3 Hoxo / No 4 King Of Reason

Race Overview

Ordinary class four here and take out the on top selection it quickly gets pretty skinny to find decent form. Not the race you want to get too involved in however Glacier Blue has only came up with one decent gate all season and not much better today in gate nine however his last start performance was very good over this distance and class and only missed by a neck in the wash up. Up 2 lbs as a result of that which is still ok for this runner and he has Douglas Whyte in the saddle for the first time which may do the trick. Plenty Of Speed has raced over this distance all season and after dropping back from class three has not been too far away with the exception of one start when he did not begin well and never really got into the finish at all but having said that he has not been to far off on three other occasions. Drawn a bit wide today but has the pace to cross and may give a cheeky site over the concluding stages. Weight the only query.

Race 4: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 1 All My Gain

Value Selection: No 9 Lean Journey

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Go Go Win and No 12 One More World / No 10 Elegance Klammer

Race Overview

All My Gain comes into this today after recording two very good wins both over this distance at this class and both were from wide gates. Not a real lot better today after coming up with a bit of a squeeze draw in gate nine but he has certainly improved since stepping up to this distance and looks another decent chance once again today with Douglas Whyte retaining the ride. Should also stay at current each way odds. Lean Journey was on track for a tilt at this distance as he was closing off well over the 1200m but at his 2nd last start he was galloped on but just the same was disappointing and may have not been suited by being ridden in a forward position as well. Was having his first go last start at this distance when another runner fell in front of him and he also hit the turf as a result of not being able to avoid that incident. Was travelling well in a nice position before that. Has trialled well since and gets another crack at it today and his last start hoop in Zac Purton is back in the saddle. Can turn things around today.

Race 5: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 1 Thunder Dash

Value Selection: No 7 Top Bonus

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Fish And Chips and No 3 Yo-Yo Da

Race Overview

Thunder Dash does come across as hard to hold out here despite top weight. Drawn well and should get a nice trail in transit. Won well two starts back and went very close again last start under a light weight with young Jack Wong in the saddle but they have gone for a senior hoop today in Neil Callan and looking at this field he should run well once again. Top Bonus went up to this distance two starts back and went close on the first occasion and was expected to be right in the finish once again last start but was disappointing and his hoop claimed that he appeared to have a breathing issue which was abnormal. Track work since has been fine and Joao Moreira has been on him at all Hong Kong starts so you would expect he will break through sooner rather than later. Nice draw and well weighted.

Race 6: — Time: 7.35am GMT—Distance: 1650m – AWT—Class 3

Top Pick: No 3 Verdane e/w

Value Selection: No 4 Rumba King

Exotic Inclusions: No 13 Terrific Master and No 9 Buddy Buddies /No 5 Happy Journey

Race Overview

This race is very open to say the least and will most likely jump at each way the field. However Verdane always looks a bit of a chance in races of this type and does handle this surface as well. Comes up with a decent draw in gate 4 and will get his chance from that gate with Douglas Whyte back in the saddle.  Rumba King does not win too often but does appreciate this surface and has been close up at his last two starts and may be getting close to another win here. Brett Prebble who is the master of the weave stays on board and just scraps in with the barrier in gate eight and has a similar weight as last start when he put in a nice on paced 3rd.Can certainly go well once again today at nice odds.

Race 7: — Time: 8.05am GMT—Distance: 1000m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 14 E-Super

Value Selection: No 2 Country Melody

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Accepted and No

Race Overview

E-Super Only the two starts in Hong Kong and both have been over this distance all be it at Class four. Won first up and just missed by a very short  margin last start. Up in class today but does have a 19 Lb weight drop with the class rise which has to be a bonus after coming up with a nice draw in gate 11. Strong consideration here. Country Melody does like the straight 1000m at Sha Tin and may prove hard to keep out here. Still has not came up with a really good draw since arriving in Hong Kong but not too bad in gate eight today so he should be in the leading pack towards the rails as they go down the grandstand side of the track here. Yet another Joao Moreira ride which does look to have a very good chance.

Race 8: — Time: 8.35am GMT—Distance: 2400m—Hong Kong Group III

Top Pick: No 5 Got Fly

Value Selection: No 4 Thunder Fantasy

Exotic Inclusions: No 7 Helene Happy Star and No 11 Renaissance Art / No 9 Savvy Nature

Race Overview

Got Fly does look well placed in a race of this type. Closed off very hard last start over the 2000m at HKG1 and it does look like the extra distance will be right up his ally today as he has been breed for staying over this distance and similar. Thunder Fantasy certainly showed what he is capable of last start when Brett took him out a touch early and caught them off guard. Just love it when he does those type of moves, You just do not know when it is coming but he is a very good hoop and certainly knows how to read things. Up in class here but it does look like the distance will be ideal and don’t be surprised if they go too slow he will be revved up and sent out early once again.

Race 9: — Time: 9.10am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 1 Up And Coming

Value Selection: No 3 Jaeger Bomb

Exotic Inclusions: No 12 So Caffe and No 7 Razor Sharp

Race Overview

Up And Coming is a very nice type and has put together two wins and a very close second since going up to this class and even with top weight today can certainly go on with it. Usually races on the pace and may drop into a cover position today but just the same he does look like he will progress beyond this class at some point and looks a very nice chance here once again today. Jaeger Bomb went very close last start and only has to continue that type of form to give this a serious shake. Up a touch in the weights but still looks ok looking at this field and he does retain Zac Purton in the saddle.

Race 10: — Time: 9.45am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 2

Top Pick: No: 8 Travel First

Value Selection: No 11 Universal Union

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Quanternion Eagle and No 3 Glorious Lad / No 6 Marvel Tribe

                                                         Race Overview

Travel First Has been extremely consistent since arriving in Hong Kong and really does deserve to break through very soon and it just may be today. Up a touch in the weights after his first up 3rd at class two but still looks well in this just the same. Drawn a touch wide but should be able to settle in well enough in the running to give him another good chance once again today and he does retain his last start hoop. Universal Union has been very good since arriving in Hong Kong which has prompted his trainer to step him up to class two. Looked good on the first occasion but did not perform well last start and I have the feeling it may have been that he was at Happy Valley under lights for the first time. Can certainly turn it around back at Sha Tin today over a distance which he has shown he does like and he does come up with a decent draw today with Zac Purton back in the saddle. Quanternion Eagle has won over this distance on two occasions and it was nice to see that he picked up a win at his first start which was over the 1200m. Should be further improved and better suited today over this distance.

Sha Tin Preview 3rd May

HONG KONG RACING SUNDAY 3 May 1915

SHA TIN

The Champions Mile

Yet another sensation days racing at Sha Tin with the feature race being The Champions Mile. Certainly void of runners but it has been billed as the best miller in the world at current standings in “Able Friend” who has rose to an amazing ranking this season. Should be the one to beat once again as his form over this distance and up to 2000m is outstanding. However he comes up against the very talented “Luger” who won the Hong Kong Derby in very good fashion so he does have what you would expect to be a good test on his hands today. I do expect both going on the performances today will be racing in the UK when all the Group racing begins so it really is worth getting involved here and at least watching just how this race pans out. The last three races on the card also look very solid class races and will prove to be every entertaining. Have a great day and above all enjoy the card at Sha Tin.

Track and Conditions: Turf A+3 course and the track will be rated as good.

Expected Weather: Sunny Intervals with a few showers and a top temperature of 30 degrees so it will be on the humid side. Wind will be from the south to southwest at around the 20Km/h mark so there will be a slight tailwind down the straight which will only slightly assist closers but it should be a fairly even playing ground just the same.

Best Bet: Race 10 No 11 Lucky Year

Best Value: Race 11 No 4 Dashing Fellow

Best Exotic Races: Race No’s 9-10-11

Race 7: 1-3 Race 8: 1-10-3-6 Race 9: 11-1 Race 10: 3-4-5-10

Race 1: — Time: 4.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Griffin Race

Top Pick: No 3 Highland Hammers

Value Selection: No 6 Happy Chappy

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Super Dragon and No 2 Eastern Express

Race Overview

Highland Hammer stuck on well behind Happy Chappy last start over the 1000m.Both have trained on very well since that first start. They meet again today over the extra ground and both have widish gates but it is a small field. He should be improved by that first up run and I expect there should not be too much between the top four here. Happy Chappy recorded a very nice win first up from a draw which was wide so he appears to have a bit of talent. Goes over the extra ground today and comes up with another wide draw in gate 9 but looks to be a nice type and can go well once again in a small field.

Race 2: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 5

Top Pick: No 9 Jun Hao

Value Selection: No 1 Best Jade Triumph

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 On The Way and No Fantasticlife

Race Overview

Jun Hao certainly looks close to a win going on his current performances this season. He has never been far away and ran a very nice close up 3rd last start over this distance. Always has good hoops in the saddle and today is no exception with Douglas Whyte back in the saddle. Retains the same weight as he has been carrying all season and comes up with the rails draw so he should get a nice trail in the running. Best Jade Triumph always seems to go well at this class and distance and since dropping back in class this time he has gone close on all occasions. No real difference in the weights today. Comes up with a nice draw and should be well placed in the running and he also retains the master of the weave in Brett Prebble in the saddle.

Race 3: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1000m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 1 Spitfire

Value Selection: No 10 Never Better

Exotic Inclusions: No 12 Peace Combination and No 8 Distinct Commander

Race Overview

Spitfire has never been far away recently since dropping back to this class and has not been over this distance since class three when he found it a bit much but at his class and from a very nice draw in gate 11 with Douglas Whyte in the saddle he has to come under strong consideration here. Never Better just the two starts in Hong Kong and does appear to be improving. Drops a touch in weight and comes up with a nice draw in gate 12 which is close in over this course. Retains regular hoop and would not have to improve too much to be a bit of a hope here in a fairly open race.

Race 4: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 2 Happy Agility

Value Selection: No 9 Thewisardofoz

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Regency Darling and No 11 Fun Tapestry / No 13 Bernard’s Choice

Race Overview

Happy Agility just the one start in Hong Kong and won well on that occasion with a very nice on paced performance over this distance at this class an d as a result goes up in the weights but does still look ok as he carries 127Lbs first up and has to be a consideration today going on his last start. Drawn wide today but has the speed to offset that. Retains Zac Purton in the saddle and goes in as another good chance today. Thewizardofoz is currently at just on or around each way but by start time may be favourite with Joao Moreira in the saddle despite drawing gate 14. His trials have been excellent and if drawn in closer he would certainly be hard to beat on those results. However he has good natural speed and should be able to cross into a forward position just the same. On trial form he looks a very nice type.

Race 5: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 5 Joyful Moments

Value Selection: No 4 Young Ranger

Exotic Inclusions: No 12 Sparkling Sword and No 2 Asia Rising

Race Overview

Open affair here if you take out Joyful Moments who does look the form way to go here. Just the three starts in Hong Kong but all have been good being placed 2nd at his last two starts and his last run was over this distance at Sha Tin from a similar draw. He gets Joao Moreira in the saddle today which will most likely keep his odds under’s so if you fancy him I would be getting in early. Young Ranger dropped back to this class recently and ran a nice race last start over the 1400m when he went to the line well in running 3rd only 1/2 of a length from the winner. Has trained on well and looks a bit of a chance with Zac Purton in the saddle. Only query is the wide gate and the slow pace but Zac will most likely look to get across early and he does look to have the pace to do just that.  Sparkling Sword has not been very far away since going up to this class recently and with what is expected to be a slow paced race should lead and may very well run a cheeky race at nice odds here.

Race 6: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 10 Bear Pop

Value Selection: No 4 Winner St Paul

Exotic Inclusions: No 11 Master Viking and No 3 Jolly Spring / No 8 Unique Awesome.

Race Overview

Bear Pop was getting home well last start until being held up in the straight and gives the impression that he may be ready to put in a good race looking at that effort as he was only 1 3/4 of a length away in the wash up. Should be at nice each way odds and can run well against this field despite the wide gate. Winner St Paul just the five starts in Hong Kong and he has been consistent and continues to improve. Comes up with a nice gate today and Zac Purton jumps back on board for the first time since his first start which was a failure at Happy Valley when he ran all over the place. But has shown good form since which has all been at Sha Tin. Looks close to breaking through.

Race 7: — Time: 7.35am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 9 Charity Kingdom

Value Selection: No 3 Horse Of Fortune

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Red Dancer and No 7 Cheeky Too / No 1 Good Choice.

Race Overview

Charity Kingdom has been very consistent over the 1400m at his last three starts at this class and has been closing well on all those occasions. Goes up to the 1600m today and certainly looks like he will appreciate the extra ground today. Retains Zac Purton in the saddle and stays at a nice weight which will certainly help. Solid chance. Horse Of Fortune just the four starts in Hong Kong and the last two were over the Happy Valley mile where he put in decent efforts on both occasions. Comes up with a nice draw today and should once again enjoy a nice run just behind the speed near the rails. Does come across as a decent each way chance today.

Race 8: — Time: 8.05am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Group One

Top Pick: No 1 Able Friend

Value Selection: No 3 Luger

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Dan Excel and No 4 Rewarding Hero

Race Overview

Only a six horse field but it is all class. Able Friend is certainly the star performer of the season in Hong Kong but I wasn’t completely taken by his last start performance even though he won well but it may have been due to the transition up and down to the 1400m then back to the mile. Did not seem to possess the same very quick turn of foot as he has shown previously but he is without doubt a class act and will be hard to keep out here. Is at the peak of his career and is without doubt a sensational race horse that deserves to have a crack at richer races in the UK. But he will not have it all his own way as Luger has gone from strength to strength since a few set backs earlier this season and has really shown his class. If all had gone well early this season I really did expect he would have gone to Dubai. He should be somewhere near the lead running into the straight and should be the one to run down however Dan Excel who has taken a bit of time to get going in his preparations looks to have been set for this as well and ran a very nice on paced 4th last start over this distance at HKG2 and may very well ensure a decent pace which will play into the hands of the other runners who like to finish hard with the exception of Secret Sham who may try to pinch the race if it is a slower pace than expected. Great race despite the small field and tactics will play a big part.

Race 9: — Time: 8.40pm GMT—Distance: 1000m—Class 2

Top Pick: 1 Not Listenin’ Tome

Value Selection: No 10 Dane Patrol

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Looks Like A Cat and No 6 Jet wings

Race Overview

Good quality class two sprint here. Not Listenin’ Tome just the one start in Hong Kong and that was over this distance at HKG3 when he ran a very nice on paced race from a draw which was no help what so ever. Gomes up with a much better draw today in gate 11 which is much closer to the grandstand rail. Gets a big hit up in the weights today but he also has a senior hoop in the saddle in Douglas Whyte. Would like to see him over a bit more ground but just the same may have the class to go close here. Dane Patrol is a very under rated runner and has proven that this season with a very honest score card after winning on two occasions and placed in another two and never far away in his other starts. Has very good gate speed and will be in this for a long way.

Race 10: — Time: 9.15pm GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3

Top Pick: No: 11 Lucky Year

Value Selection: No 1 Strathmore

Exotic Inclusions: No 7 Spicy Sure and No 8 Lucky Day / No 2 Righteous

                                                         Race Overview

Now this is a very solid Class Three and it is very very competitive but the way Lucky Year won at his first start in Hong Kong he certainly has to be the one to run down here. Up in class today but will trot around with just 115lbs on his back in retaining his last start hoop and a small claim. Comes up with another great draw in gate 2 and should get a very nice run in transit once again. Strathmore won well last start and going on his lead up form prior to that win he has to go in with another very good chance once again today. Certainly been hit hard with the weights but if he carries it he has to go close from a gun gate and Tommy Berry in the saddle. Weight the only issue here. Spicy Sure only the one run in Hong Kong but it was a very pleasing effort running second to Strathmore on that occasion and even though he was well beaten in the wash up there was a lot to like about that run. Comes up with another nice draw today in gate five and should be well placed in the running as a result of that. Overseas form indicates that he should go well at this class.

Race 11: — Time: 9.50pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 3

Top Pick: No: 3 Sky Hero

Value Selection: No 4 Dashing Fellow

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Secret Command and No 10 Forever Accurate

                                                         Race Overview

Sky Hero only the four races in Hong Kong and all have been very good. Went up to this class and gave them a canning all be it with a light weight. Been hit up in the weights as a result of that run but does appear to have talent and should progress beyond this class if he continues to improve as he has been. Dashing Fellow has been on song all season as well and won well last start at this class and even though up in the weights as a result of that win he has to come under consideration on form alone.

Sha Tin Sunday 29th Tips!

SHA TIN
Hong Kong Wrap Up

It’s always a great day’s racing at Hong Kong and in particular Sha Tin. Looks a sensational day once again today especially looking at the last five races. We have a great Hong Kong Group Three in race 9 which does certainly appeal as a very good chance to get amongst the exotics. Our best bet of the day in race is 10 is No 6 Eroico he will have a bit of value if not too much but he does look a very strong chance just the same and looking at our best value selection of the day in Thor The Greatest he does look to be a strong each way chance. Enjoy the form guide as I know you will get collects and continue to enjoy Hong Kong racing as it is certainly user friendly when you have this form which is on target.
Track and Conditions: Turf A+3 Course.

Expected Weather:Cloudy with sunny intervals and coastal fog in the morning which will clear by race time and a top temperature of 25 degrees. Wind will be from the east gusting up to around the 30 Km/h at times which will aid the on paced runners with a head wind down the straight.
Best Bet: Race 10 No 6 Eroico
Best Value: Race 5 No 5 Thor The Greatest
Best Exotic Races: Race No’s 5-6-7-8-9-10
Quaddie:-
Race 7: 5-4 Race 8: 7-2 Race 9: 7-1-11-6-2 Race 10: 6-1-4-2

Race 1: — Time: 7.45am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 5
Top Pick: No 13 Lucky Bole
Value Selection: No 2 Jun Ju
Exotic Inclusions: No 1 Enchanted Diamond-5 Good Thinker-No 6 La Cota De Blue
Race Overview
Each way the field and a very open race to kick off the card today. Lucky Bole I had a close look at the footage of his last start effort and it was a good run. He drew wide on that occasion and was in no man’s land after they jumped and was pushed forward and looped the field leading all the way until about 50m out. That was a pretty good effort all be it on the All Weather Track. Gets in with a similar weight today and I have the sneaky feeling he may be close to a win. Jun Ju dropped back in class after three starts at class four this season and has not been too far away. Went well over this distance last start and closed off very well from a wide gate. Gets another wide gate today and they should adopt the same tactics. Just needs the tempo to be enough to allow him time to run on. Looks a bit of a chance in this if there is a bit of pressure on the obvious leader in Oriential Fantasia.
Race 2: — Time: 8.15am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 5
Top Pick: No 5 Elegant Frames
Selection: No 1 Friends of Yan Oi
Exotic Inclusions: No 8 King Tai Sing and No 11 Chans Delight

Race Overview
Elegant Frames dropped back to this class last start over this distance at Happy Valley but had excuses just after the jump and never really got into it although he finished ok. His only other start when he dropped back to this class was over this course, distance and track and it was also with Joao Moreira in the saddle and he is back on him once again today for the first time since that run when he scored with three Lb’s more than what he has today and he does come up with a very nice draw in gate one. You would think he has to be a chance here. Friends of Yan Oi Has not had too many runs at Sha Tin and is mostly a Happy Valley horse however he comes across as a bit of a chance with the class drop. The last time he was at class five he performed well and was in the finish on most occasions with a similar weight to what he has today. Comes up with a decent draw today in gate five and Douglas Whyte is sticking with him.

Race 3: — Time: 8.45am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4
Top Pick: No 3 Unique Joyful
Value Selection: No 9 Diamond Mysterious
Exotic Inclusions: No 7 Lucky Year- No 1 The Prince – No 8 One More World
Race Overview
Unique Joyful has been consistent all season at this class and even though being touched up in the weights he does look to be very close to another win. Retains his usual hoop and comes up with a very nice draw in gate three which should see him very well placed in the running. Closed off very hard from an unfavourable gate last start and only has to retain that form to give this a big shake. Diamond Mysterious looks to be an improving type at this class and although most starts have been over the 1000m he did close off well last start over the 1000m at Sha Tin all be it from a nice draw. Comes up with another nice draw today in gate two and is still well weighted after his last start 2nd.

Race 4: — Time: 9.15am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4
Top Pick: No 7 Unique Happiest
Value Selection: No 4 Master Mind
Exotic Inclusions: No 1 Short Squeeze and No 8 Elite Pride/No 5 G-One Bo Bo
Race Overview
Unique Happiest has performed very consistently at his last four starts and does not look too far away from a win going on those efforts. Only up 1 lb on his last start 2nd and retains the Master of the Weave in Brett Prebble in the saddle and he may have to use those talents late as should be close up near the rails throughout the running just the same. Master Mind Just the one start in Hong Kong and it was over this distance at Sha Tin when he closed off well and was only 1.5 lengths away in the wash up. Comes up with a nice draw once again in gate five and Douglas Whyte retains the ride. May very well pay to follow here as his track work has been very good.

Race 5: — Time: 10.05am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3
Top Pick: No 3 Strathmore
Value Selection: No 8 Thor The Greatest
Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Amazing Kids and No 11 Lucky Day/No 12 Blizzard
Race Overview
Strathmore only the four starts in Hong Kong and went over the 1400m last start for the first time and performed well from a wide gate on that occasion. He is down 4 Lb’s in weight today and has Joao Moreira in the saddle. Comes up with a nice draw in gate three and certainly has plenty of appeal in this field. Thor The Greatest went well for Jack Wong at his first start at this class last start and was only run down late after leading almost all the way with a light weight. He should once again take the lead today and if not too much pressure appeals as a each way chance with Brett Prebble back in the saddle. He is a smart hoop and is always looking for something special.

Race 6: — Time: 10.35am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 4
Top Pick: No 4 Winnam
Value Selection: No 7 Gold Dragon
Exotic Inclusions: No 6 Unique Joyous-No 2 Grand Harbour-No 1 Fighting Boy
Race Overview
Winnam has performed very well this season at this class over this distance and similar. Comes up with a decent draw today in gate six and should be well placed in the running. Having Joao Moreira in the saddle certainly will not help the odds but he does look a decent chance today. Gold Dragon has only had the 5 starts in Hong Kong and all have been at Sha Tin. He has shown improvement since moving up in distance and put in a nice effort over this distance last start and was only a length away in the wash up after a nice even on paced run. Should do the same today from barrier seven with the same weight as last start. Looks to be getting close to a win. Fighting Boy does look suited over this distance going on his recent form as he has been right in the finish at his last three starts and winning one of those. He does have a habit of getting away slow but if he gets away ok today that should make the difference and put him in the finish with a better chance today. Goes in as my BOLTER of the day.

Race 7: — Time: 11.05am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 3
Top Pick: No 5 Bossie
Value Selection: No 4 Too Fast
Exotic Inclusions: No 13 Sunny Pearl and No 7 Fine Rock

Race Overview
Bossiee is a very consistent type and does look a very good chance in this field. Won well over this distance at this class all be it with a lighter weight last start. But does still get into this at a weight that does look good and he also has Joao Moreira retaining the ride. Looks in fine from gate 8 and appeals as a very good chance here. Too Fast showed marked improvement last start with a very nice 3rd after closing off from a long way back and from his draw today will be doing the same. There just may be enough early pace here to allow him to close off well enough to get into the finish again today. Retains same hoop and certainly has to come under consideration here. Fine Rock gets into this race today with a big weight drop with Jack Wong in the saddle and will trot around with just 114lbs on his back which is 10 Lb’s less than he has carried in his three Hong Kong starts to date. His efforts have been fair without winning and with the weight drop today it just may make the difference. BOLTER.

Race 8: — Time: 11.35am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3
Top Pick: No 7 Wild Boy
Value Selection: No 2 Regency Ho Ho
Exotic Inclusions: No 13 Packing Go Go and No 4 Tango Fire

Race Overview Wild Boy bounced back into form last start with an all the way win. Up in class today and gets an 8 Lb weight drop which I feel is a bit on the skinny side and may have got a bit more as this is his first go at class three. Should certainly be on the pace and in a good position entering the home straight. Regency Ho Ho is hard to go past here even though most of his runs have been at Happy Valley. He is never very far away and does look well placed in this field. Up a touch in the weights but has drawn well and he has Brett Prebble in the saddle who retains the ride today.

Race 9: — Time: 12.10pm GMT—Distance: 1800m— Hong Kong Group III
Top Pick: No 7 Helene Super Star
Value Selection: No 1 Blazing Speed
Exotic Inclusions: No 11 Packing Llaregyb – No 6 Harbour Master and No 2 California Memory
Race Overview
Nice Group Three here with some good runners engaged but when you look at it Helene Super Star does look in very well at the weights today. Carried 126Lbs last start at set weights at G1 and only went down by 1.5 lengths to Designs on Rome who will start at a short price early today in the Dubai Sheema Classic G1. That has to be a very good pointer. Blazing Speed even with top weight is the best performed in this field and most likely deserves to have top weight. Finished off very well behind Designs On Rome last start and does have very good form behind that runner. Having said that there will most likely be a heap with the lighter weights getting right into the finish here and no more so than Packing Llaregyb who went very close over this distance two starts back chasing down Designs on Rome and with a similar weight has to be a solid chance.

Race 10: — Time: 12.45pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 2
Top Pick: No: 6 Erioco
Value Selection: No 1 Let Me Go
Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Multivictory and No 2 Full Talent

Race Overview
Nice Class Two here with some chances but if we go with the form then Eroico has to come under strong consideration here as he has been extremely consistent since arriving in Hong Kong. He performed extremely well last start which was at this class for the first time and over this distance. He was only .5 of a length away on that occasion from an unsuitable gate and gets in so much better today in gate three. Retains Joao Moreira in the saddle and he has been with this runner from day one which tells me he has a very good opinion of this horse. But then again he does have a Brazilian name 🙂 Let Me Go has improved leaps and bounds this season and most likely deserves top weight as he won last start with 127Lbs at this class after finishing 2nd at Class One last start all be it with a much lighter weight. He should race mid field but there should be enough pace on here to run home strong. Multivictory is touched up a bit in the weights but does have the ability to get into this and should be well placed in the running after coming up with the rails draw.

HONG KONG RACING SATURDAY MARCH 21

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

Fantastic racing last Sunday with 4 on top selections getting up and seven out of the 10 races producing exactas on the selections when boxed. Amazing win by Able Friend in the Cup race. Don’t know if he will get a chance at the world stage but if he does watch out as he is certainly something special. The owners love him heaps and it may take a bit of persuading to get him to part from Hong Kong and how can you be more impressed by the win by Luger in the Derby. He was our on top selection and left nothing else a chance over the concluding stages. More to our home stats and our best value selection of the day is running along at just over a 65% e/w strike rate and returning a profit or just over the 60% mark. Stick with them as well as the boxed exacta’s and not only will you have heaps of fun you will do extremely well over the course of the season.

Track and Conditions: Turf C+3 Course. All on the turf with the exception of races and 4 which will be on the All Weather Dirt Track. Track currently rated as Good on both surfaces.

Expected Weather: Cloudy but there will be sunny intervals. Visibility will be relatively low but should not impact on the running of the races. A top temperature of 23 degrees and wind will be from the east to northeast up to and around the 30Kh/m.

Best Bet: Race 10 No 1 Packing Pins

Best Value: Race 2 No 1 Art of Success

Best Exotic Races: Race No 7-8-9-10

Quaddie:-

Race 7: 9-11-8-5 Race 8: 11-2-9 Race 9: 1-9-11-4-12 Race 10: 5

Race 1: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class 5

Top Pick: No 6 Bachelor Dragon

Value Selection: 8 My Cup Overflows

Exotic Inclusions: No 1 Gold Tartini and No 14 All My Benefit

Race Overview

Very ordinary field to kick of the card today so would not be getting too involved here however Joao has had the pick of the rides once again and when you look at the form well I suppose Dragon Bachelor after dropping back in class recently has to be a reasonable chance here. Hard to go past in this field even though he has not won this season. Does look weighted at his best but should run well just the same in this field. My Cup Overflows Should get a nice on paced run after coming up with the inside draw here. Has fairly good early gate speed which should allow him to sit in a forward position here. This may very well develop into a sit and sprint race which will certainly assist on paced runners.

Race 2: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 6 E-Super

Value Selection: No 1 Art of Success

Exotic Inclusions: No 10 Gallant Rock and No 2 Sunshine Glory

Race Overview

E-Super has been in Hong Kong for a while now and missed a bit of track work with a leg injury but has trialled well since then. This three year old may very well have some promise going on those trials and it would not surprise to see him go very close here. Art of Success Recently dropped back to class four and went well on the first occasion but was bumped from pillar to post last start and as a result was eased out of it. Comes up with a very nice draw in gate 13 which is right on the rails down this 1000m straight today. Should jump well and with Zac Purton in the saddle is certainly expected to put in a good performance here.

Race 3: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 8 Goldweaver

Value Selection: No 10 Jun Hao

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Fantasticife and No 4 Rising Power / No 2 Optimational Star

Race Overview

Goldweaver is another Zac Purton mount and even though this does look like a very ordinary class five I do expect he will run well on recent form. Always seams to be in the firing line and should get a nice trail from gate 4 today. Still looks well weighted at 125Lbs and certainly has to be a bit of a chance here. Jun Hao has never been too far away in most of his runs since coming to Hong Kong and looking at his last three starts he has to be an inclusion here at each way odds. Very open here with the exotic inclusions all having a chance as well.

Race 4: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 10 Modern Fortune

Value Selection: No 2 Easy Success

Exotic Inclusions: No 7 Glorious Avenue and No 3 Hurry Hurry Up / No 8 Jade Pippo.

Race Overview

Modern Fortune ran a pretty good race last start with the same weight he has today and comes up with the rails draw once again. He looks a solid chance here but he may be a bit unders with Joao Moreira in the saddle. Easy Success just gets in ok at barrier 7 and has been fairly consistent recently at this class and does look to be a nice chance once again today. Weighted at his best but he does have Brett Prebble in the saddle who is the master of the weave so he should be able to be well placed in the running. Appeals as a bit of a chance here at nice each way odds.

Race 5: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 8 Ah Bo

Value Selection: No 11 Kids and Win

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Heroic Guru and No 13 Victoria Charter

Race Overview

Ah Bo has never been very far away and gets a chance to break his Hong Kong duck here. Drew a bit wide last start but still closed off well. Draws in a bit closer today and carries the same weight. Retains Joao Moreira in the saddle who has had a couple of rides on him now and been close. Should get a nice trail in the running as well. Kids and Win has been at this class previously and dropped back to class five and picked up a couple of very nice wins. Still gets into this well weighted and has to be a bit of a chance here as he will trot around with 118Lbs on his back and retains the same hoop. But it is an open class four just the same.

Race 6: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 2 Country Melody

Value Selection: No 1 Dane Patrol

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Beauty Kingdom and No 10 No Money No Talk

Race Overview

Just have to love these 1000m sprints at Sha Tin. Country Melody has only had the four starts in Hong Kong and won his first two. Went up in the weights as a result of that but has still been very consistent just the same and does appeal as another very good chance today. Drawn a bit better than mid field which is not too bad and of course he has Joao Moreira in the saddle. Dane Patrol is an eight year old now but is still sprinting in great fashion. Went very close last start with Jack Wong in the saddle last start and get’s another 10 Lb’s off today with Jack retaining the ride. That will certainly help as he is up in the weights after that last start performance. But when you look at his overall form this season he has been very consistent and has raced very well over the odds on most occasions. Certainly appeals as good value here at current odds of around the 6/1 mark.

Race 7: — Time: 8.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class – Group One

Top Pick: No 9 Multimax

Value Selection: No 11 Thor The Greatest

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Kynam and No 5 Billante

Race Overview

Multimax is a very improving three year old and has adjusted to the class rise last start. Ran a very nice 4th on that occasion all be it with a very light weight. Has the ability to go close today with a senior hoop in Douglas Whyte in the saddle. Come up with another good draw in gate four and should enjoy a very nice trip from that draw. Thor The Greatest well it does look like they have picked the right time for him to go up in class. Not only does he drop 9 Lbs due to the class rise he also gets a further 10 Lbs off with Jack Wong in the saddle. Will be very close to the pace with that weight and can certainly run a very cheeky race here.

Race 8: — Time: 8.35am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 11 So Caffe

Value Selection: No 2 Red Dancer

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Supreme Profit and No 8 Colossus

Race Overview

So Caffe has always shown promise but has not broken through this season. Gets his chance today against this lot and comes up with another nice draw today in gate 3 which was what he had last start and closed off very well and was not far off the winner on that occasion. Has not got great early gate speed but will be getting home hard late and he has Joao Moreira in the saddle as well today.  Red Dancer is a good performer over this distance at this class having won twice this season over the Sha Tin mile. Was working home well again last start from a wide gate. Gets in closer today and retains his last start hoop. Can certainly get in the finish here once again today at nice each way odds.

Race 9: — Time: 9.10am GMT—Distance: 2000m—Class – HKG1

Top Pick: No 1 Key Witness

Value Selection: No 9 Lang Tai Sing

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Teofilo Calvo and No 11 Supreme Falcon / No 12 Lovely Delovely

Race Overview

Key Witness is a very good on paced runner but will most likely be taken back today from the wide gate due to the early inside pace in this race. Four year old who is really showing his form with a very nice win at Class one last start. Back to class two today and carries a similar weight to what he won at class two two starts back. Douglas Whyte has been on him on most occasions and sticks with him today. Lang Tai Sing is a nice type and has never been far away and is mostly at nice odds as well. Closed off extremely well from a wide gate last start and was less than 2 lengths away on the post. Different set up today after coming up with the rails draw and should get a very nice trail in the running from that position. Certainly has appeal at each way odds here.

Race 10: — Time: 9.50pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 2

Top Pick: No: 5 Packing Pins

Value Selection: No 12 presidentparamount

Exotic Inclusions: No 13 Mah May Baby and No 4 Secret Weapon / No 1 Big Four

                                                         Race Overview

Packing Pins does possess good gate speed and should be eased into a nice slot in the running from gate two. You can forget he went around last start as shortly after the jump he was caught wide and was unable to settle infield and as a result was forced to race four wide for almost the entire trip and yielded ground in the straight. Form prior to that was extremely good and certainly looks up to this with a similar weight today and Joao Moreira in the saddle. Certainly a bit of a puzzle after you take out the on top selection here but we may find a bit of value just the same. Presidentparamount goes up in class after two very good performances at class four. He has drawn wide in gate 12 but does look very well suited at this distance and may very well get a bit more but for today he certainly looks very nice odds and would not have to improve too much to get into the finish here. Open race to finish off the card today.

HONG KONG RACING SUNDAY 15 March 1915

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

It’s another great days racing at Sha Tin today and yet more Group racing with the Hong Kong Derby over the 2000m and the Queens Silver Jubilee Cup over the 1400m. Both look to be sensational races and we have Able Friend going around today as well in the Cup which will be excitement plus as he is dropping back in distance to contest this race today. If he can win this he certainly is a real talent and all indications are that he can certainly do just that. The Derby does look to have some serious talent and a fair few chances which have to be proven over the 2000m and it does look like being a very exciting race. What I can tell you about today is that it does look open early in the card but there is a lot of value there as well if the on top selections get rolled and it may very well be a day of taking a few flexi boxed exacta’s on the side as if they hit they will result in nice dividends. We went well last week and have a bit in the kitty as a result of that with our best bet winning along with our best value selection at odds of 12/1 along with 6 exacta’s. On average the results are very good so enjoy the form and have great meet.

Track and Conditions: Turf A Course. Track currently rated as Good.

Expected Weather: Sunny intervals with coastal fog which may be present throughout the morning and day. Top temperature of 22 degrees and the wind will be from the east to south east which should give a slight tail wind down the straight assisting closers to some degree but overall it should be a fair playing ground.

Best Bet: Race 6 No 4 Righteous

Best Value: Race 8 No 12 Super Talent

Best Exotic Races: Race No’s 7-8-9-10

Quaddie:-

Race 7: 1-2 Race 8: 4-12 Race 9: 1-4-2-6-3 Race 10: 2-14-5-1

Race 1: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1650m—Class 5

Top Pick: No 1 Fortune Territory

Value Selection: No Opitimizational Star

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Best Jade Triumph and No 9 Solar Boy

Race Overview

Well Joao just keeps getting the good mounts and no different today. Fortune Territory dropped back in class last start for the first time in a long while and looks to have made an instant improvement.  Ran a very nice close up third on that occasion and was closing off well with top weight from a very wide draw. Comes up with a much better draw today in gate 2 and has to be a strong consideration here. Optimizational Star has found himself in some good form lately winning two of his last three over this distance at this class hence the weight rise. He ran on well on both those occasions and there should be enough pace throughout this race to allow him to close off well once again today. Certainly appeals at current odds of 10/1 with Zac Purton in the saddle.

Race 2: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 8 Tracker

Value Selection: No 1 Trendy World

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Unique Joyful and No 10 Thunder Dash

Race Overview

This does look open and very hard to separate the form here so I would be taking it easy in this one. Tracker Just the one start in Hong Kong and that was over this distance at Sha Tin. Did not begin the best on that occasion but mustered to make up ground. His hoop on entering the straight lost his right rein and took some time to regather. All the same he fought on well on that occasion and should certainly strip fitter today. Trendy World raced very well first up in Hong Kong then put in a sub standard performance last start. Not quite sure where they are going with this one but I do have a feeling that he will race very much better today. Retains his usual hoop and I would not be surprised to see him go very close here from a good draw in gate 5.

Race 3: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 3 Bear Rapper

Value Selection: No 1 Plenty Of Speed

Exotic Inclusions: No 6 Royal Elegance and No 14 Jade Pippo

Race Overview

Bear Rapper well he really was expected to win last start but looking at that race he really did not have much luck in the early stages and was left with too much ground to make up.  Retains Joao Moreira in the saddle and drawn well once again and if he gets away ok he is the one to beat and does deserve to break through on current form. Plenty Of Speed recently dropped back to this class and has gone close on both occasions since doing so. He crossed and sat on the speed on both those starts from gate 14 and it will be no surprise see him perform even better after coming up with a decent gate today. Weighted at his best but he does get a 7 Lb claim today as well. Appeals as value here at nice odds.

Race 4: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 8 Gold Dragon

Value Selection: No 1 D’or Wongchoy

Exotic Inclusions: No 12 Rugby Ambassador and No 4 Vara Pearl

Race Overview

Gold Dragon Just the four starts in Hong Kong but all have been good and placed on three occasions. Has been closing off very well over the 1400m which does suggest that the extra 200m today may very well be what he is looking for. From Barrier four you would expect he will be well placed in the running and would not have to improve too much to be right in the finish once again. D’or Wongchoy won first up this season over this distance at this class then went up to class three and found it tuff going. Back to class four today and as a result back up in the weights but he has won at this class with only 1 Lb less so has to be a strong consideration today even from the wide gate. Vara Pearl I am going to throw this one in as my BOLTER of the day here as his form overall is certainly consistent enough to match up against these runners. Has drawn wide but there should not be enough early pace to prevent him getting across into a nice trail position. He has Bernard Fayd’Herbe in the saddle today and following in Douglas Whyte’s footsteps this South African rider from Durbin does have some class and will certainly be egar to display it in his first race in Hong Kong. Certainly looks over the odds here and is currently around the 30/1 mark.

Race 5: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 4 Ensuring

Value Selection: No 5 Industrialist Way

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Photon Willie and No 6 Top Act

Race Overview

Ensuring is a last start winner and has been much more consistent at this distance this season. Still just gets in ok at the weights on those performances and certainly has appeal at current odds as well. Industrialist Way is far too consistent to leave out here as he has really been on song at this class over these distances this season. Won and placed twice over this distance at this class this season and still retains the same weight as last start. All points for another very good performance once again today as he just has to hold form which you would expect he should do. Retains Brett Prebble in the saddle who is the master of the weave and a very good hoop in staying events. The other rated runners will all have their chances as well looking at this field

Race 6: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 4 Righteous

Value Selection: No 10 Lucky Day

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Sight Seeing and No 1 Chater Legend

Race Overview

Righteous Just the three starts in Hong Kong and all have been at Sha Tin over this distance. Won his first two in good style but certainly looked to have been robbed last start as he was hampered early on and to me looked to get into a pocket running into the straight and really never got out until very late. Looked to be a victim of the way the hoops ran that race. Should atone here and really does look the one to beat. Lucky Day has been bouncing up and down between class 3 and class 4 and has been consistent without winning this season. Up a touch in the weights but looking at this field he has another good chance today. Does come across as the value selection here.

Race 7: — Time: 8.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class – Group One

Top Pick: No 1 Able Friend

Value Selection: No 2 Gold-Fun

Exotic Inclusions: No 6 Beauty Flame-No 5 Gordon Lord Byron / No 4

Ambitious Dragon

Race Overview

This is the first of two sensational group races today. If Able Friend can drop back in distance today he really is the real deal. I really do suspect he will do just that as he does look to be something right out of the box. From winning a Maiden at Wyong to winning G1’s in Hong Kong it certainly is a great story and I do believe it will only continue. Would love to see him on the world stage or even back in Australia for a tilt at something special but the owners love him and will have the final say but for me he has the class to win this especially at set weights. Gold –  Fun ran a sensational race last start over the 1200m and was closing off very hard late on that occasion to just get up in the shadows of the post. Looks even better suited today over the 1400m and under set weights looks right in this up to his neck. Retains his last start hoop and will certainly be in the firing line at some point. I must say I can certainly see some value in the rest of the field here so I have to include some at good odds but will need luck just the same but Beauty Flame is by far too consistent to leave out here and will certainly test this lot. Very nice 2nd at G1 last start over the mile. Has great early speed and is always close up in the running. Nothing should change today as he comes up with another good gate and retains his regular hoop as well. Has to go in as a very solid chance once again today.

Race 8: — Time: 8.35am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 4 King of Mongolia

Value Selection: No 12 Super Talent

Exotic Inclusions: No 13 Dashing Fellow and No 7 Divine Diya

Race Overview

King Of Mongolia Just the two starts in Hong Kong and both have been at Sha Tin over the 1200m. Improved a fair bit to record a nice win last start although helped a bit by the way things went in the straight. Never the less he did close off extremely well indicating that the extra 200m will certainly be in his favour today as he has won over 1600m prior to coming to Hong Kong and yes that was at Kembla Grange. :).  Will test this field over this distance. Super Talent is never very far away and in fact has only missed a place on one occasion since coming to Hong Kong and that was for a 4th at his first start. Has certainly came on since then and closed off very hard at his first attempt over this distance last start and in running 3rd he was continuing to make ground on the post. Goes around with the same weight as last start which is a bonus and Douglas Whyte sticks with him. Only query is the wide gate but he does like to close off and you would expect that is what they will do with him today.

Race 9: — Time: 9.10am GMT—Distance: 2000m—Class – HKG1

Top Pick: 1 Luger

Value Selection: No 4 Giant Treasure

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Beauty Only and No 6 Redkirk Warrior / No 3 Thunder Fantasy

Race Overview

This looks like a great race and I reckon we can go close to getting the top four fairly close here but just the same there is some serious talent in this race. Set weights once again and that will certainly help the runners with a touch more class as they have displayed. I don’t think there is too much between Redkirk Warrior,Giant Treasure.Beauty Only,Luger and Thunder Fantasy. Luger has not drawn well but it should not affect things much over the 2000m . Had a setback but looks to have that behind him now after a very nice win over the Sha Tin mile last start. No real stayers in that race but it did have some very good quality runners just the same. Interesting to see that Douglas Whyte is off him and onto Giant Treasure but Zac Purton is the perfect replacement. Giant Treasure has been there about and obviously set for this race. Douglas Whyte sticks with him and he certainly looks very well placed over the extra distance today the way he has been finishing off his races since arriving in Hong Kong and does look suited at set weights.

Race 10: — Time: 9.50pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 2

Top Pick: No: 2 Let Me Go

Value Selection: No 14 Travel First

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Eroico and No 1 Formular One / No 9 Jazzy Feeling

                                                         Race Overview

Let Me Go went up for the one start at Class two last start and performed very well . Back to class two today but does look well suited at this class after some very polished performances this season. Only has to produce that form today to be another very good chance once again. Looks fine at the weights and it is very good to see Tommy Berry back in town. Appeals as a solid chance here. Travel First has been a very consistent type at class three since arriving in Hong Kong without winning but the class rise and the drop in weight may certainly help today as he dose get a 15Lb weight drop today. Comes up with a nice draw in gate four and currently at each way odds appeals as value here.

Sha Tin 8th March Horse Racing Tips

HONG KONG RACING SUNDAY 8 March 1915

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

It’s another great days racing at Sha Tin today and yet another group race with the Hong Kong Group Three Macau Cup which is always a hotly contested race and nothing has changed this time around.

Arpinati does look extremely well placed here at the weights in the Cup race. Comes up with gate one which will suite his racing style. Ran a very impressive race at HKG1 two starts back when he finished not far away in 4th position. Certainly looks suited here and he does have Joao Moreira in the saddle. Not an overly strong HKG3 but very competitive just the same. Super Lifeline has been racing at Class 1 or above for a while now and has done very well in the process. Comes up with a nice draw today in gate 4 and on current form looks ok at the weights and they have lost nothing in having Mattie Chadwick in the saddle for the first time today. Looks a very good chance.

The last four races today look to be great races and our form is done and dusted and I hope our results continue as we hit 6 exactas last Sunday and had a great day so follow the form and let’s take it to the bookies. The exotics look to hold some value today so best of luck if having a go.

Track and Conditions: Turf  C+3 Course with the exception of Races 1-3-7  which will be on the All Weather Dirt Track.

Expected Weather:          Mainly cloudy with a few mist patches in the morning which should clear during the day. There will be a top temperature of 21 degrees and the wind will be from the east gusting up to and around the 30Km/h mark. This will create a cross to head wind down the straight which will aid on paced runners but it is expected to be a fair playing ground just the same.

Race 1: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1650m—Class 5 – AWT

Top Pick: No 5 La Cote De Bleu

Value Selection: No 1 Mr Marc

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Sledge Hammer and No 6 South China Command / No 7 Croatia

Race Overview

La Cote De Bleu Produced a nice win over this distance on this surface last start after some fairly consistent form throughout the season. That run was from a wide draw in gate 12 and gets in a fair bit closer today in gate 7.Certainly looks a good chance once again today, retains Mattie Chadwick in the saddle and still looks in well at the weights. Mister Marc had been very consistent at class five this season and went up to class four last start to taste the waters again but was well and truly run over in the latter parts of that race which was over the 2200m on the turf. His previous form at Happy Valley which does lend itself to the AWT has been good along with some nice performances on the AWT. Certainly looks much better suited today despite having to carry top weight. Has the new Kid on the block in the saddle in Jack Wong and as a result will get a 10 Lb weight drop. Jack has had a fair bit of experience in New Zealand and I am sure he will go well.

Race 2: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1000m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 2 Diamond Master

Selection: No 4 The Prince

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Lean Journey and No 1 Addole / No 11 Diamond Mysterious

Race Overview

Diamond Master has been in reasonable form since arriving in Hong Kong however had excuses last start and he does come up with a very nice draw today in gate 12 and Neil Callan is back in the saddle. Carries top weight once again today but does appear to be much better placed here. The Prince has not gone over this trip this season and the last time he did go over this trip it was at class three so he does look much better suited today. Comes up with a nice draw in gate 11 and should have enough speed to take up a very nice position in the running. Certainly has appeal here.

Race 3: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1650m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 4 Happy Moments

Value Selection: No 2 Expedite

Exotic Inclusions: No 7 Harbour Delight and No 1 Health Wise

Race Overview

Happy Moments certainly has the ability to be hot and cold but if on song he can certainly get into the finish here. Joao is sticking with him however he does not have a great gate and will need a bit of luck early. However this field is a bit ordinary and his hoop may play a good part here. Expedite has bounced up and down between class 3 and class 4 this season and ran a very nice race last start on this surface at this class last start. Had top weight on that occasion and gets a little of weight relief today and most important he retains Zac Purton in the saddle. Draw a bit of a query but should go well just the same.

Race 4: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 2 Dashing Fortune

Value Selection: No 9 Athena Baby

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Penny Lane and No 1 Sunny Pearl

Race Overview

Dashing Fortune Has been up and down in class since arriving in Hong Kong and does look better suited here. Just has to get a nice run in transit which he should get from gate 4 today. Even though he was 6th last start he was only 1 1/4 lengths from the winner and he does have Zac Purton in the saddle today for the very first time. Athena Baby just the three runs in Hong Kong and all have been fairly even and does show promise. Only needs to lift a bit to be right in the finish here. Comes up with a nice draw in gate 5 and has Joao Moreira in the saddle for the first time.

Race 5: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 3 Sergeant Titanium

Value Selection: No 1 Faster More

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Percy Jackson and No 5 Electronic Phoenix

Race Overview

Sergeant Titanium did very well last start after coming from a near impossible position to get up on the line. If he gets an open shot at them today he has to be right in this once again. Draw the only queary but he does no how to find the line. Faster More is dropping back in class today for the first time this season and his class three form was not too bad at all as he was placed on two occasions and ran 4th on another three. His form last season was all at class four and he was most consistent and went up in class after winning over the Sha Tin mile by a good margin. Has to be a certain consideration today at each way odds even with top weight. Neil Callan rides.  Electronic Phoenix is an interesting runner here. He has only had the three starts in Hong Kong and has been moving up in distance and may even appreciate longer but he was starting to get interested last start and made up a fair bit of ground over the concluding stages. Does look like he will be even better placed over this distance today. Gets a couple of Lb’s off his back today with the allowance so will be 5 Lbs better off than last start. Should be each way odds here and a nice inclusion as he does look an improving type as he steps up in distance. At current odds of around the 18/1 mark he goes in as my BOLTER of the day here.

Race 6: — Time: 7.35am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 2

Top Pick: No 1 Brilliant Shine

Value Selection: No 2 Santa Fe Sun

Exotic Inclusions: No 14 Principal and No 1 Travel Brother

Race Overview

Brilliant Shine has won all three starts this season and is a very improving type. Only just got up last start at this class over the 1400m and it does look like a good move to go up to the 1600m today as he has been closing off extremely well and does look well placed here. Has to be a strong chance if he gets the distance but it is expected and he does retain Zac Purton in the saddle. Santa Fe Sun Does look well placed in a race of this type. Comes up with a nice draw in gate four and should suit his running style and get a nice trail in the running. Very nice closing third last start over this distance and would only have to repeat that effort to be a very good chance once again today.

Race 7: — Time: 8.05am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 1 Startling Power

Value Selection: No 3 Dehere’s The Love

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Hidden Value and No 6 Able Warrior / No 7 Hearts Keeper

Race Overview

Interesting training tactics here and it is always worth looking at. Startling Power has won well with Joao Moreira in the saddle at his last two starts and does look to still hold a fair bit of potential. Gets six Lb weight rise today but it will be offset with a 5lb weight allowance with the jockey change. Drawn well and does look a very good hope here. Well ! Joao is off him and onto Dehere’s The Love but is no stranger to this horse and has ridden him on a fair few occasions as well so he does know this horse and has to go in as a very positive chance in that situation. Drawn exceptionally well in gate one as well. Looks like a nice exotic race as the next three in line all have chances.

Race 8: — Time: 8.35am GMT—Distance: 1000m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 8 Lovely Deloverly e/w

Value Selection: No 1 Disciples Twelve

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 My Little Friend and No 9 Dane Patrol / No 3 Supreme Falcon

Race Overview

Lovely Deloverly is a very consistent sprinter who goes well over this course. Has to be a very good chance after coming up with gate 13 which is right in the rails section of this course. Gets in extremely well at the weights after a 7 Lb allowance and will trot around today with just 122lb’s on his back. Just has to be pointed in the right direction to go close here. Disiples Twelve does perform very well over this distance and at this class. Won over the Happy Valley 1000m last start with top weight but more importantly he ran a very solid race the previous start at Sha Tin down the 1000m straight. Comes up with another very nice draw in gate 10 which will see him very well positioned down the grandstand rail and even though Zac is not on him today he gets a bit of weight relief as well. No 9 Dane Patrol goes around with just 115Lbs on his back with the new hoop in Jack Wong in the saddle. He can certainly be hard to run down with that weight. No 3 Supreme Falcon even though going over this distance for the first time is far too good at this class to leave out and has came up with the best draw in gate 14 which is the rails over this course. I also like the newcomer No 7 High Five but only room for so many but if going for a Trifecta or 1st 4 looks like a possible inclusion. Watch the markets. Currently 9/1.

Race 9: — Time: 9.10pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class – Hong Kong Group Three

Top Pick: No Arpinati

Value Selection: No 3 Super Lifeline

Exotic Inclusions: No 1 All You Wish and No 11 Pikachu

Race Overview

Arpinati does look extremely well placed here at the weights.

Race 10: — Time: 9.45pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 3

Top Pick: No: 9 Packing Pins

Value Selection: No 7 Up And Coming

Exotic Inclusions: No 1 Dr Good Habit and No 2 Ho In One

                                                         Race Overview

Nice race here with a few chances however I do like Packing Pins. Always liked this horse since arriving in Hong Kong. Only the three starts but has never been worse than 2nd at this class and does look to be a certain chance once again today if he can handle the wide draw in gate 13. Should be eased back but what he does have in his favour is that the pace should be good enough to close off well and put him in with a good chance. Up And Coming has really picked up the bit since moving up to this distance. Just the four runs this season but he did win at this class over this distance last start and still looks very well weighted today. Retains Douglas Whyte in the saddle and is expected to come up at decent odds.
